Download PDF A4 PNGThe black problem
Pirates are the worst subject on this site for pre-filled ink. The flag is black, the captain’s hat and coat are black, and the sails are usually shaded dark — between them a normal pirate page arrives half finished. Every one of those is a hollow outline here. The flag is a hollow outline with an outlined skull on it, so it can be any colour a child likes.
Friendly, not fearsome
The captain is smiling with his hands on his hips and a parrot on his shoulder. There are no weapons drawn in anger, no skulls beyond the small motifs on the flag and the hat, and nothing threatening anywhere in the set, which makes it usable for a party bag or a nursery.
The map is a page to draw on
The treasure map page is a blank curling scroll beside a dotted trail, two palm trees, a compass star and a big X. The scroll is left empty on purpose, so it is the one page here that invites a child to draw their own map rather than only fill one in.
The three long ones
The patterned ship, the treasure cove and the pirate mandala are drawn for adults. The cove has a chest, a barrel, an anchor, a lantern and a cutlass among heaps of coins, packed edge to edge.
