Nothing arrives printed black

Halloween is drawn in silhouettes — the bat, the cat, the witch hat, the vampire cape, the night sky — and on a coloring page every one of those is an area you never get to colour. On these twenty pages none of it is filled. The bats are open outlines, the cats are white, the witch hat is a plain shape with stars on the brim, the cape has five fold lines and nothing else, and every night sky is left as paper. Even the carved faces in the pumpkins are outlines, so you can put candlelight in them.

The whole cast

Pumpkins, ghosts, bats, a black cat, a witch on her broomstick, a haunted house, a spider on its web, an owl under the moon — and now a mummy, a vampire, Frankenstein's monster, a werewolf, two dancing skeletons, a scarecrow in a pumpkin field and three children out trick-or-treating.

Spooky, not scary

Every character here is friendly. The monsters wave, the skeletons dance, the ghost smiles. Nothing is gruesome and nothing is being hurt, so the set works for a nursery as well as for an older child who wants the atmosphere.

Six pages for adults

The graveyard scene has five tombstones, a bare tree, an iron fence and an owl, all in fine open line. The wreath rings pumpkins, ghosts and bats with about thirty autumn leaves. Then the mandala, the sugar skull with roses, the patterned pumpkins and the doodle sheet of twenty-six.

Classroom and party printing

The doodle sheet and the trick-or-treaters page work well as party table sheets, and the jack-o-lantern and the friendly ghost are the two most forgiving pages for very young children.
