Cute pig coloring pages

The five easy pages have big shapes and bold lines for young children: a plump pig sitting on the grass with a daisy, a big friendly pig face with floppy ears, a giggling piglet splashing in a puddle beside a rubber duck, a kawaii pig taking a bite of a doughnut, and a pig mask to colour and wear.

The mask page is a round pig face with a snout, pointed ears and two eye holes, all with dashed cutting lines. Colour it, cut round the outside and along the eye holes, then glue it to a paper plate or thread elastic through the two small holes at the sides — ready for a farm day, a play or a story about the three little pigs.

Piglets

A baby pig is called a piglet, a mother pig is a sow and a father pig is a boar, and a sow can have a litter of ten or more piglets at a time. The piglet pages show a mother resting on the straw while four piglets snuggle and play around her, a tiny piglet peeking out of a teacup, and three piglets in nightcaps listening to a bedtime story.

Why pigs love mud

Pigs have very few sweat glands, so they cannot cool down by sweating the way we do. Rolling in mud keeps them cool, and a coat of dried mud protects their skin from sunburn and insects. Pigs are also clever animals with a superb sense of smell, using their strong snouts to dig for roots and food. Pigs having fun

Some pages are just for fun: a pig in a chef’s hat baking a strawberry layer cake, a pig at the beach building a sandcastle with a crab, a pig in a sun hat pulling up a giant carrot, and a pig, a lamb and a duck sharing apples under a tree. And one pig really does fly — “when pigs fly” is an old saying for something that will never happen, but this one has wings, goggles and a scarf.
