The mask page is a round monkey face with big ears and a wide smile, with a dashed cutting line around the outside, around each eye hole and around two small holes for elastic. Colour it, cut it out, then thread elastic through the side holes or glue it to a paper plate — ready for a jungle party or a zoo day.

Funny monkey pages

Some pages come from rhymes and sayings. Five little monkeys jump on the bed in stripy, spotty and starry pyjamas until one falls off and bumps its head, just like the counting song. Monkeys from around the world

There are more than 250 kinds of monkey. Monkeys from Central and South America, like the spider monkey and the capuchin, often have long tails, and some can grip branches with their tails like an extra hand. Monkeys from Africa and Asia, like baboons and mandrills, cannot. The pages show a spider monkey hanging by its tail, a golden lion tamarin with its lion-like mane from the rainforests of Brazil, Japanese snow monkeys warming up in a hot spring, a baboon family resting on a rock, and a mother monkey cuddling her baby. Apes — chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans — are close relatives but are not monkeys: they have no tail.
