How to colour a landscape
Start with the sky, keeping it paler near the horizon. Then work from the back of the picture to the front: distant mountains look lighter and bluer because of the air between you and them, so colour them softly and save the strongest colours for the trees, flowers and rocks in the foreground. Pick a season before you begin — the same valley can be spring green, summer gold, autumn orange or winter white.
