Download PDF A4 PNGThe letter is drawn properly
Every I on these pages is set from a real typeface and outlined exactly, not sketched. The capital I is a straight stem with a serif top and bottom, and the lowercase i keeps its dot — both drawn thick enough to colour inside.
Twelve things beginning with I
Ice cream, igloo, iguana, island, ice skate, inchworm, insect, iron, ivy, iceberg, instruments and invitation. Each is drawn large below the letter, so the sound and the shape are learned together. There is a thirteenth page setting all twelve out in a grid, and a doodle sheet of twenty small I things — with an ice cube, an icicle, an iris, an ibex and an ibis joining them.
Nothing arrives filled in
An igloo doorway is normally a black arch, an ice skate a black boot on a steel blade, a beetle a black shell and an iceberg a shape half in shadow. None of them are here — a penguin stands in the doorway so there is nothing dark to fill, the skate is white paper, and every facet of the iceberg is open above and below the water.
Which page to start with
The big uppercase I and the big lowercase i are the simplest — one huge shape each. The bubble letter and the sheet of mixed letters to hunt through come next. The patterned I, divided into bands of lattice, scallops and rings, will hold an older child or an adult.
Printing
Print at 100% scale rather than “fit to page”, and match the file to your paper — Letter or A4. The button at the top bundles all twenty into a single download.
Frequently asked questions
Are these letter I coloring pages free?
Yes — every page is a free PDF with no signup, no email and no watermark on the artwork.
Is there an uppercase and a lowercase I?
Yes — one page for each at full size, a third with the pair together, and both letters printed above every picture page.
What I words are included?
Ice cream, igloo, iguana, island, ice skate, inchworm, insect, iron, ivy, iceberg, instruments and invitation, plus a grid of all twelve and a doodle sheet that adds an ice cube, an icicle, an iris, an ibex and an ibis.
Are these tracing or handwriting worksheets?
No. Every page here is drawn to be coloured in — there are no dotted letters to trace and no cutting lines.
Which page suits the youngest child?
The big uppercase I: one enormous letter with a thick outline and nothing else on the page.
Which page suits an older child?
The patterned I, filled with bands of lattice, scallops and rings, or the doodle sheet of twenty small I things.
Are there pages for the other letters?
Yes — there is a set of twenty for every letter of the alphabet.
What paper size are the files?
Every page comes in both US Letter and A4, so it prints properly on either.
