Easy or simple — the same twenty pages

If you searched for simple coloring pages rather than easy ones, this is the same thing: large shapes, heavy outlines and very little on the page. The two words get used interchangeably for exactly this kind of sheet, and every page below is both.

What makes a page actually easy

Most pages labelled easy are just ordinary pages with fewer objects on them — the outlines are still thin and the shapes are still small, so a three-year-old still goes over every edge. These are drawn the other way round. The lines are deliberately heavy, each page has between eight and eighteen separate areas in total, and there is no texture anywhere: no fur strokes, no feather detail, no brick courses on the house, no tread on the tractor tyres. The large empty spaces are the point, not an omission.

Start with the shapes page

The first sheet is six big shapes — a circle, a square, a triangle, a star, a heart and an oval — each with a friendly face and each far enough from its neighbours that a wandering crayon does not spoil the one next door. It is the easiest page here and the one to hand a child who has not finished a colouring page before.

Twenty subjects, all one page each

Animals: a cat, a puppy with a ball, a duck on the pond, an owl on a branch, an elephant and a fish. Things that go: a rocket, a tractor and a sailing boat. Treats: an ice cream cone, a birthday cake and an apple. And the classics small children draw first — a smiling sun, a rainbow, a house, a flower, a teddy bear, a butterfly and three balloons.

When these get too easy

Every set on this site sorts its pages easy first and detailed last, so the next step up is the opening page of any subject your child likes. There are a few hundred more easy pages across the site in exactly that position — try the animal, food and vehicle sets first, since their easy pages are the closest in style to these.

Printing for small children

Print at 100% scale rather than “fit to page” — fit-to-page shrinks the artwork, which is the one thing you do not want here. Plain copier paper is fine for crayons and pencils; if your child is using felt tips, 120gsm cardstock stops the colour bleeding through.

Frequently asked questions

Are these easy coloring pages free?

Yes — every page is a free PDF with no signup, no email and no watermark on the artwork.

Are simple coloring pages the same thing?

Yes. Easy and simple describe the same kind of sheet — big shapes, thick outlines and few areas — and every page here is both.

What age are these for?

Roughly two to five. The shapes page and the apple suit a toddler just starting out; the tractor, the owl and the birthday cake have a few more areas and suit four and five year olds.

How many things are there to colour on each page?

Between about eight and eighteen. The apple has the fewest, the tractor and the birthday cake the most.

Are the outlines thick enough for crayons?

Yes — that is what these are for. The lines are drawn deliberately heavy so a small hand has an obvious edge to aim at.

Which page should we start with?

The six big shapes with faces. Each shape stands on its own with space around it, so one wandering crayon does not spoil the next.

Do you have easy pages of other subjects?

Yes. Every set on the site is sorted easy first, so the opening pages of the animal, food, vehicle and holiday sets are all in this style — a few hundred of them.

What paper size are the files?

Every page comes in both US Letter and A4, as a vector PDF at 300 DPI, so it stays sharp however far you zoom in.

Can I print these for a nursery or playgroup?

Yes. Print as many copies as you need for a class, a nursery or a party. Please do not resell the files or host them elsewhere.
