No words printed on the pictures

Most capybara colouring sheets have a caption lettered into the drawing itself — a title across the top, or a word beside the animal. It looks fine on screen and it means the page can only ever be that one thing: you cannot use it with a child who does not read English, and you cannot use the Halloween one in March. There is not a single letter anywhere in this set.

The capybara actually looks like a capybara

It is a surprisingly easy animal to draw wrong — most attempts drift toward a guinea pig or a small bear. A capybara has a heavy rectangular body, very short legs, tiny rounded ears set far back on the head, a blunt squared-off muzzle and no tail at all. Every page here is drawn to that shape, which matters if you are colouring one to learn what the animal is.

The hot spring, done properly

The famous image is a capybara up to its shoulders in a steaming pool with yuzu oranges floating around it. Here the water is left completely open rather than shaded in, the oranges are outlines you can colour, and the steam is drawn as separate curls rather than a grey haze — so the whole pool is yours.

Twenty situations, not twenty portraits

Swimming with only its head above the ripples, asleep in a heap of four, with five birds perched along its back, sharing a bank with turtles and a frog, eating a wedge of watermelon, balancing an orange on its head, standing among the bulrushes with a reed in its mouth, and leading a family of five past the river with three babies in front.

Five pages for adults

A patterned capybara divided into eighteen zones of different infill, a six-fold mandala built from capybara heads and lily pads, a wreath of five capybaras among reeds and lotus flowers, a dense jungle scene with toucans and palm fronds, and a doodle sheet of twenty-four small capybaras all doing something different.

Printing

Print at 100% scale rather than “fit to page”, and match the file to your paper — Letter or A4. The button at the top bundles all twenty into a single download.

Frequently asked questions

Are these capybara coloring pages free?

Yes — every page is a free PDF with no signup, no email and no watermark on the artwork.

Is there any writing on the pages?

No. Not one letter appears in any of the twenty drawings, so nothing dates the sheet or ties it to a language.

Do you have the capybara in the hot spring?

Yes — sitting up to its shoulders in a stone pool with five yuzu oranges floating around it and six curls of steam rising. The water is left open to colour.

Which page suits a very young child?

The single big capybara or the baby capybara close-up. Both are one large figure with thick outlines and about a dozen areas.

Which pages suit an adult?

The patterned capybara, the mandala, the wreath, the jungle scene and the doodle sheet of twenty-four.

Are there baby capybaras?

Yes — three of them in the river family page, one on top of the sleeping pile, and a close-up page of a single baby on its own.

What paper size are the files?

Every page comes in both US Letter and A4, as a vector PDF at 300 DPI, so it stays sharp however far you zoom in.

Can I print these for a class or a party?

Yes. Print as many copies as you need. Please do not resell the files or host them elsewhere.
